WAIPARA CHARDONNAY (LIGHTLY OAKED) 2008
Released November 2009
The grapes come from the Waipara Valley and were harvested in superb condition, mid- to late April, at a brix of 22 to 24. Grapes from the two vineyard sites were fermented separately, then blended later to obtain an ideal balance of fruit-driven flavours that reflect the unique character of each vineyard's terroir. The style of this lovely Chardonnay is fruit driven with a clean fresh flavour. About 25% percent of the wine is barrel fermented to add complexity from time on lees with a hint of spicy oak being evident.
This wine has used the screw top closure to preserve fresh fruit flavours or allow the wine to age gracefully and reach its full potential with no bottle variation.
